Great Media Loves

we hear a story that captures our imagination, transports us to another place and time,
and causes each of us to stop for a brief moment to reflect on ourselves, and the world we live in

Civilization II
What an unbelievable game -- it was here that I learned about the big picture, how civilizations work. If the History channel is the parts, then this is how the parts fit together. It was through civ that I learned what goes into the decisions that shape the history books and the evening news.

Young Indiana Jones Chronicles
What a fantastic show! It was the first time I saw World War I being fought in color, which gives it a reality that those 1918 newsreels just don't have. But this series is so much more than 1900 to 1920 in color. Its growing up, its the ways of the world, its people being people, but in early 20th century clothes. It really humanized that time for me (and by extention, all of history: those folks aren't so different from us)
